Hatch Burritos, a restaurant serving breakfast burritos and other New Mexican-style foods, is soft-opening its first permanent location in Durham.
Why it matters: Hatch, founded by Talitha Benjamin, has earned a loyal following through pop-up events in recent years thanks to its breakfast burritos, stews and enchiladas.
Driving the news: The restaurant, which focuses on the New Mexican specialty of Hatch green chile, will have its soft opening today through Friday.
It will host a grand opening over the weekend.
Zoom in: Benjamin raised more than $23,000 on Kickstarter to help open the permanent location at 721 N. Mangum St. in Durham's Old Five Points neighborhood.
The area on Mangum Street has increasingly become a food-and-drink destination in recent years, with other establishments opening like Little Bull, Zeitgeist Gallery, Night School Bar and the Durham Beer Garden.
Hatch's menu will vary, but the restaurant plans to serve burritos, enchiladas, green chile stew, blue corn pancakes, as well as Benjamin's Green Chile Pimento Cheese.
