The Carolina Hurricanes drafted Seth Jarvis early in the 2020 NHL draft, and he's since grown into a bona fide star, leading the team last year in goals and playing internationally for his home country of Canada.
Why it matters: It's another year of high expectations for the Canes, who are perennial Stanley Cup contenders.
- And Jarvis, a 23-year-old from Winnipeg, stands a chance of being named to Canada's 2026 Winter Olympics roster. He played for Canada in last year's international Four Nations Face-Off tournament, which saw three other Canes represent their countries.
Zoom in: Jarvis told his story in a newly released episode of Amazon Prime's "FaceOff: Inside the NHL."
- The camera crews stopped by his North Hills apartment, tagged along on the golf course, visited his family, and went inside his childhood bedroom in Winnipeg. There's also footage from the playoffs and his time playing for Team Canada.
- "It was uncomfortable to watch myself on the TV," Jarvis said this week in the locker room. "But it was nice to hear what my brother had to say."
State of play: This year, he will be on a line with top scorer Sebastian Aho and offseason pickup Nikolaj Ehlers, The Hockey News reports, calling it a "lethal trio."

We talked with Jarvis for our latest Local Limelight conversation. This Q&A has been edited for length and clarity.
