Timber Pizza Co., a highly regarded Washington, D.C.-born pizzeria, plans to open its second Triangle location in Durham this year.
Why it matters: Timber Pizza, recognized with a Bib Gourmand by the Michelin dining guide, has several locations in the D.C. area, but entered the Triangle market for the first time last year with a shop at 627 E Whitaker Mill Road in Raleigh.
Driving the news: Its second area location will be at the historic city garage building next to the new Wye Junction apartments at 701 Washington St. in downtown Durham.
Timber plans to take over 2,000 square feet there, with room for 45 seats and bar seating. The goal is to open this winter.
Zoom in: Timber specializes in serving 12-inch, wood-fired pizzas using red, white and green sauces.
