The Common Market expands to downtown Raleigh

Driving the news: Worth bought a roughly 9,500-square-foot building at Seaboard Station from the developer Hoffman & Association last year for $2.8 million, according to county records.

• The plan is for the Common Market to occupy nearly 5,000 square feet of that and for other tenants to fill out the rest of the space.

Zoom in: No Common Market looks or operates exactly the same, though sandwiches and a curated beer selection are staples. The goal, Worth previously told Axios, is for The Common Market to become a unique third space for every neighborhood they enter.

• The company's Durham location leased some of its space to a local coffee shop and ice cream stand, and the Raleigh location will also look to find similar local partners.

The big picture: After several years of construction, the Seaboard Station area has become a hot spot for new restaurants and bars.

• Boatman Spirits recently opened at the development, and the popular Wilmington restaurant K38 Baja Grill is expected to open later this year.
• Other restaurants there include: Biscuit Belly, Palm Berries, the High Rail bar and Omakase by Kai.
