Raleigh's chances of having a White Christmas — or at least one inch of snow on Christmas Day — are around 2% based on historical data, WRAL reports.
Driving the news: The last true White Christmas was in 1966, though the area got a little less than a half inch of snow in 2010, per WRAL.
Zoom out: None of the country's 25 most populous cities have more than about a one-in-three chance of having a White Christmas, according to Accuweather.
If you're itching for a White Christmas, though, you could travel a few hours west to Boone, where the historical odds you'll see more than an inch of snow on Christmas Day are about 16%.
Yes, but: Raleigh has a slight chance of getting snow in the coming days, with an 8% chance on Saturday and 7% on Sunday, per The Weather Channel.
Meanwhile, winters in the Raleigh metro have steadily been growing warmer for decades.
