The owners of The Crunkleton bar say they will open their first Raleigh location in March. They want the location to be known just as much for its food as it is for its excellent cocktails.
Why it matters: The Crunkleton's original Chapel Hill location, opened in 2008, has one of the most devoted followings in the state thanks to the details it pours into its Prohibition-era cocktails as well as its library of rare and antique spirits.
- After expanding to Charlotte in 2019, the Crunkleton added food to its repertoire and became one of that city's favorite food spots.
Driving the news: The Raleigh restaurant, located in Kane Realty's Smoky Hollow development in Glenwood South, is being built by Charlotte's 1957 Hospitality Group along with Gary Crunkleton, the founder and namesake of the bar.
- Crunkleton said that while many in the Triangle already know its reputation as a fine cocktail maker, he's excited to introduce its food pairings to the area.
- "We believe we'll bring something unique to Raleigh both at the bar and to your table, all served with timeless hospitality," he said in a statement.
Zoom in: 1957 Hospitality says the Raleigh outpost will have the same beverage and food menu as its Charlotte restaurant, including its beloved burger.
- The menu will also include oysters, table-share tomahawk steaks and fire-roasted veggies.
- The Raleigh Crunkleton will have room for 88 seats. During the warmer months, the bar will also have an outdoor patio where patrons can eat and drink.
- 1957 Hospitality said it will regularly host events called Spirited Luncheons, which allow a limited number of people to taste rare liquors paired with coursed meals.
