Downtown Raleigh's pizza landscape keeps expanding — this time with a new pop-up shop from a Raleigh visual artist.
What's happening: Since September, Raleigh artist Tim Lytvinenko, the brother of Raleigh Denim founder Victor Lytvinenko , has been making pizza outside the Neighborhood bar in Smoky Hollow several days a week.
The pop-up, Pizza Party Pizza, was born out of artists' hangouts he attended in Raleigh over the years, and now Lytvinenko, a photographer and mixed-media artist who shows around the Triangle, is regularly selling out pies whenever he sets up shop.
What to expect: Using his own handmade dough and two mobile pizza ovens, Lytvinenko keeps the menu pretty small, typically with three options:
A meat pie
The "special pizza," which Lytvinenko calls his best pizza and includes a mozzarella, garlic, olive oil base with honey and chili oil
And the "special, special pizza," which right now is a figgy-balsamic pizza
The pizzas often sell out, so ordering ahead is recommended.
We tried the "special, special pizza," and loved the combination of the crust, Chanterelle mushrooms and sweet fig jam.
📍 Location: Outside Neighborhood at 500 N. West St., Ste. 150.
Hours: Vary by week. Follow Lytvinenko on Instagram for the latest hours.
