I recently had the pleasure of trying Scott Crawford's newest restaurant, Brodeto.
The restaurant opened in late March, while I was in the throes of newbornland, and as a pescatarian seafood lover, I'd been itching to try it.
What to expect: Brodeto's airy, crisp and natural light-filled interior immediately transported me to the Croatian coast. (OK, fine, I've never been, but the restaurant's interior is exactly how I imagine it.)
The menu is inspired by dishes found throughout homes along the Adriatic Sea, one of Crawford's favorite places to visit and conduct culinary research. Brodeto is named for a popular Croatian fish stew, and it's a must-try dish at the restaurant.
What to try: The Cocomero Spritz ($18 and worth every penny) is my new favorite cocktail in all of Raleigh. The cucumber-watermelon-Aperol combo makes for a light, refreshing pick-me-up and tastes like a glorious moment to myself at last, or a perfect day by the pool.
Pair with: The Little Gem Hearts (a fancy Caesar salad), spicy octopus, focaccia, some house-made cheese, and of course, the brodeto.
