Raleigh and Charlotte are among the top 20 hottest job markets in the U.S., according to an annual ranking released by the Wall Street Journal.
Why it matters: People and employers flock to hot job markets like Raleigh in droves — driven by work opportunities, our climate and relatively low cost of living.
The share of recent grads moving to the Triangle has grown over the last decade.
By the numbers: Raleigh ranked No. 14, and notably had the fifth-fastest growing wages of any metro area.
Charlotte came in at No. 16.
The top three job markets were Salt Lake City, Jacksonville and Orlando.
How it worked: The Journal worked with Moody's Analytics to study roughly 380 metro areas in the U.S.
It then ranked them based on five factors: unemployment rate, the labor force participation rate, employment level changes, labor force size and wages.
