Waymo's service area in the Valley is big, but it has plenty of room to grow.
Catch up quick: The autonomous vehicle company last week expanded service to Gilbert and more of Chandler, with Mesa Gateway Airport coming soon.
- The Valley now has about 350 square miles of service area.
What we're watching: Waymo wouldn't comment on where the next expansion in the Phoenix metro area might be, but many of you had some suggestions.
Top requests: Several readers clamored for Waymo service in the western part of the metro area — the cars don't go anywhere west of Interstate 17 — with readers suggesting Peoria and Westgate-State Farm Stadium.
- "Those of us west of I-17 feel like we're in East Germany looking over the wall to the west where people have nice things," reader Guy Finney told us.
A couple others suggested north Phoenix west of State Route 51, including the Moon Valley neighborhood and area around Shadow Mountain High School.
- "There is a lot of activity on this side of 51 and we all hope Waymo will include our area soon," Betty Gaston tells us.
- Reader Leigh Ann said Waymo should go at least to 32nd Street between Shea Boulevard and Bell Road, telling Axios, "There are so many great bars and restaurants along that corridor."
Some want Waymos north of Loop 101 in Scottsdale.
- Other requests included Ahwatukee and Anthem.
