After the massive box office success of "The Odyssey," public library systems have seen long wait lists for the Homeric epic.
Why it matters: The Christopher Nolan film has grossed more than $1 billion since its release last month, fueling an appetite for revisiting the classic work of literature.
By the numbers: Phoenix Public Library spokesperson Lee Franklin tells Axios there's been an 86% spike in demand for the Emily Wilson translation of the poem, which inspired the Nolan film.
Yesterday, all 20 of the library's copies were checked out, with 57 people waiting for one to free up.
Other local library systems show similar backlogs.
