It's been a rough season for the Arizona Cardinals, bad enough that some are wondering if it'll be the last for head coach Jonathan Gannon.
What they're saying: Asked what his pitch is to owner Michael Bidwill to keep the job, Gannon this week told The Arizona Republic, "I believe in myself and I believe in our team. … We are at a dip right now, and we're going through some adversity. But I do believe in us, and we'll get out of the dip."
State of play: Gannon's third season as the Cards' head coach has been a tale of woe.
They've had two five-game skids this season — and their 3-11 record is among the NFL's worst.
Yes, but: They've had some bad luck.
Quarterback Kyler Murray is done for the season and was lackluster when healthy, fueling expectations this could also be the former No. 1 draft pick's final season in the desert.
Injuries have sidelined other key players, too, including Marvin Harrison Jr., Paris Johnson Jr. and James Conner.
What's next: Gannon and the Cards have three games left in the season, starting this weekend with the Atlanta Falcons.
