ASU will face Duke in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, while UofA will play SMU in the Holiday Bowl.
The intrigue: Duke upset Virgina in the ACC championship game Sunday, but because the Blue Devils were a five-loss team, that didn't earn them a spot in the College Football Playoff.
The Blue Devils had called for an automatic bid as the ACC champs, but that spot instead went to James Madison University.
Flashback: This will be ASU's eighth appearance in the Sun Bowl, in which they most recently played in 2019.
The Sun Devils have gone to the Sun Bowl more than any other bowl game already.
This will be UofA's third trip to the Holiday Bowl.
1 fun fact: During the Wildcats' first appearance in the Holiday Bowl in 1998, Brad Brennan, the younger brother of current head coach Brent Brennan, caught a touchdown to give UofA a 16-13 lead over Nebraska, per the Arizona Daily Star.
The Cats won 23-20.
What's next: The Sun Bowl will be on Dec. 31 at 2pm in El Paso, and the Holiday Bowl will be on Jan. 2 at 8pm in San Diego.
