The Arizona Humane Society launched a new volunteer opportunity: Take a pup on a sleepover.
Why it matters: The program aims to give dogs a reprieve and helps them build social skills to be ready for adoption.
How it works: Pet lovers can sign up for a one-night sleepover on the organization's website. Volunteers are asked to take the pets to a public event and capture new photos of them for their adoption profiles.
Dogs who have been on the shelter floor for 14 days or longer are eligible to participate.
State of play: The program kicked off over Thanksgiving weekend with 18 pups. The Humane Society is currently booking sleepovers for the remainder of the holiday season.
