In addition to myriad bond and override measures, voters in various corners of the Valley have some notable decisions to make.
🏥 Proposition 409: The countywide ballot measure would impose a property tax increase of 11 cents per $100 of net assessed limited property value to pay for an $898 million bond for Valleywise Health, Maricopa County's public hospital and health care system.
- About $500 million would go toward expanding outpatient health facilities, $220 million would be used to double capacity at the in-patient behavioral health at Valleywise's campus at 24th and Roosevelt streets, and about $177 million would be used to expand Valleywise's new hospital.
🏫 West-MEC: Propositions 403 would authorize $415 million in bonds for the Western Maricopa Education Center District to pay for buildings, land, equipment and other career and technical education expansion needs, while Proposition 406 would permit the district to sell, lease or exchange parcels of land.
🗳️ Chandler: Chandler residents will determine whether to clarify confusing language in the city charter pertaining to term limits.
- The city charter has long been interpreted to allow two four-year terms for both City Council and mayor — 16 years total — but a dispute arose this year over whether it actually limits officials to eight years combined in both roles.
- Proposition 410 would definitively establish limits of two terms for both offices.
🗓️ Apache Junction: Voters will decide whether to increase mayoral terms from two to four years.
