The city of Glendale debuted the "Al McCoy Memorial Park" yesterday to honor the beloved Phoenix Suns announcer who died last year after 51 years as the team's radio voice.
The big picture: The renamed park, near North 51st and West Olive avenues, is in the neighborhood McCoy called home for five decades.
Its basketball court was also rebranded as the "SHAZAM!" court, a nod to one of McCoy's signature phrases.
What they're saying: "To carry on Al's legacy through a basketball court and in the neighborhood he loved so much, it doesn't get any better," Suns color analyst and former player Eddie Johnson said at yesterday's ceremony.
