We asked you last week to tell us your favorite Valley ice cream shops, and you delivered with some delicious suggestions.
Here's what Axios Phoenix readers had to say:
Handel's Homemade Ice Cream | 10 locations throughout the Valley
- "Best in the world," said Rosemary Scarfo.
I-Guana Ice Cream | Mesa
- Reader Glen Loveland describes the banana split as "theater in a bowl" and said it reminds him of childhood trips to Puerto Peñasco, "where the combination of cold sweetness and Mexican heat created its own kind of magic."
Jeremiah's | Chandler, Gilbert and Queen Creek
- This East Valley chain offers soft-serve ice and Italian ice. Lea Spall recommends the Jelati, a layered mix of the two.
Dolce Vita Italian Grocer | Mesa
- Gina B. notes it's technically gelato, not ice cream, but called it "unparalleled." Their deli side also makes a mean panini, she said.
Churn | Phoenix
- Reader Amy Donohue recommends the Fat Elvis sundae, with peanut butter ice cream, salted caramel, bananas, whipped cream and chocolate rocks.
Sweet Republic | Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe
- Their ingredients and flavors are the best, hands-down, said Hayley Ringle.
- She also recommended Karen's Kreamery, now a wholesale operation whose treats you can find at events around the Valley.
My thought bubble: Sweet Republic is my go-to for ice cream in central Phoenix.
- I highly recommend the Toffee Banofi sundae — vanilla ice cream with banana slices, toffee brittle, salted caramel sauce and whipped cream.
- It's only available Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so grab one the next time you're looking for a weekend treat.
