Bite club: Half sweet, half spicy: Olla Olla Crepes brings bold flavors to Capitol

Flashback: The eatery's origins date to 2017, when founder Lyndelle Sanjuanero Puente and a friend started selling crepes to fundraise for their sorority.

• Puente decided to turn the venture into a full-fledged business in 2019, but she put things on hold when the pandemic hit.
• After struggling with personal hardships, she launched her business in 2022, selling crepes at the corner in front of her sister's house at 53rd Avenue and Camelback Road.
• The creperie shared spaces with other businesses until she officially put down roots last year.

Zoom in: Olla Olla Crepes has a variety of unique offerings, including dessert, breakfast and even pizza crepes.

• There's also a selection of decadent drinks, like red velvet coffee and strawberry horchata with whipped cream.

Best bites: I couldn't decide whether to go sweet or savory. Fortunately, this restaurant appeals to my indecision because they let you go halfsies.

• On one side I went with a classic, which has strawberries, bananas, lechera and Nutella. On the other, I got a green enchilada crepe.
• The classic was familiar and delicious, a conventional but delectably sweet treat.
• More unusual, but still great, was the savory side, which had the spicy zing you'd expect from a good enchilada.

What's next: Puenta said she's planning to either franchise or begin manufacturing frozen ready-to-eat crepes that could be distributed nationwide.
