Zoom in: Kicanas, who now serves as the apostolic administrator of the Tucson Diocese, has known Leo (formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost) for more than 30 years, according to a post on X from the diocese.
What they're saying: The post included a screenshot of a message chain between the two Catholic leaders, with Kicanis offering his congratulations and a prayer for Leo as he began his papacy.
Leo responded: "Many thanks, +Jerry, many blessings to the people of Tucson! Thanks for your prayers!"
