The 2025 NFL Draft begins tonight in Green Bay, and the Arizona Cardinals have the 16th pick in the first round.
Why it matters: The draft is a chance for teams to reload their rosters with promising college standouts, and after a lackluster 8-9 season, the Cardinals need some help.
State of play: The Cardinals need to fill a variety of positions, which makes predicting their selection tricky.
- Most analysts think they'll go with a defensive lineman or edge rusher, though ESPN reported the team would consider an offensive guard or wide receiver if the right player is available.
Flashback: Six years ago, the Cardinals had the first overall pick of the draft and selected quarterback Kyler Murray.
- Though he has yet to deliver a strong post-season, Murray is largely viewed as a successful first-round selection: He was named the 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year, has been twice-selected as a Pro-Bowler and will this year become the longest-tenured starting Cardinals quarterback since the franchise moved to Arizona in 1988, Yahoo! Sports reports.
What's next: The draft continues through Saturday and the Cardinals have picks in rounds 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 — though teams often make in-draft trades that could change the scheduled order.
How to watch: ABC, ESPN and NFL Network will broadcast the draft and it will be livestreamed on NFL+, NFL.com, the ESPN App and ABC App.
