ASU Health headquarters will be part of Phoenix Bioscience Core

• HonorHealth will provide hands-on training for future physicians.

Driving the news: University president Michael Crow and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego on Monday announced the new ASU Health headquarters will be between 4th, 5th, Fillmore and Pierce streets.

• Construction is slated to start next year and the building is expected to be open for the fall 2028 semester.
• The 200,000-square-foot building will be five to six stories with administrative offices, classrooms, study spaces, multiple labs, exam and debrief rooms, a simulation center that will mimic operating rooms, and emergency rooms.

What they're saying: "What this really represents is a facility which will be unique in the country … and the purpose here is to impact not one patient at a time but thousands of people at a time," Crow told Axios.

By the numbers Gallego predicts ASU Health will have a $19 billion economic impact and create 200,000 jobs.

• She added the schools will benefit from the presence of Phoenix's semiconductor industry, which will aid the development of medical devices.
• A bond measure approved by Phoenix voters in 2023 will provide $12 million to the project, which is expected to cost between $200 million-$230 million, The Arizona Republic reported.
