Bite Club: Go to One Love Cafe for a taste of Jamaica

• The restaurant promises "flavorful Jamaican cuisine [that] takes your taste buds on a journey to the Caribbean." 

State of play: When a restaurant touts having "the best jerk in Arizona," how could you start with anything else? 

• Everything's made fresh. When I ordered my meal, the chef was just finishing up a fresh batch of sauce for the chicken. 

The verdict: If you're going to judge a Caribbean or Jamaican restaurant by its jerk chicken, One Love Cafe will easily pass the test. 

• The chicken is tender and grilled to perfection, and the sauce was mouth-watering, with an ideal balance of sweetness and spiciness. 
• They give you a heaping portion of delicious rice and peas along with cabbage and peppers. 

Our thought bubble: One Love Cafe is in one of those spots that ends up as a Bermuda Triangle of restaurants, where nothing lasts long. 

• I recall about a decade ago that location was home to a different Jamaican place I was a fan of. 
• One Love Cafe's food is good enough to give it some staying power — here's hoping. 
• I'll definitely be back for some brown stew chicken, curry goat, beef patty and perhaps their made-to-order escovich snapper.
