Bite Club: Just Tacos and More gets a Yelp nod

• "We wanted to bring honor to the most iconic dish Mexico has to offer—the taco," partner Violeta Cortez told Yelp.
• Their tortillas are made by a local vendor, but their meats, marinades, salsas and other ingredients are prepared in-house.

Zoom in: In a taco capital like Phoenix, I don't know how you could even begin to say who has the best in town, but anyone good enough to earn the Yelp title is worth trying.

• The tacos initially wooed me, but the "more" really caught my attention.
• When I stopped by last week, they served "enmoladas" — essentially chicken enchiladas smothered in a mole sauce.
• But my trip wouldn't have been complete without a taco, so I ordered an el jefe with chorizo with pickled onions, grilled cactus, queso fresco and guacamole in a corn tortilla.

The verdict: Was it the best in Arizona? I couldn't say, but the el jefe was outstanding.

• The chorizo was perfectly seasoned and the grilled cactus added great texture. The taco was overflowing, physically and flavor-wise.
• I loved the enmoladas. The sauce was savory with that touch of sweetness you want in a mole.

What's next: The "more" in the restaurant's name includes an unusual item I've never seen — birria ramen.

• It looked delicious but I passed it over in favor of the enmoladas, which means I'll be back soon to try this unique Mexican-Japanese fusion item.
