Beer drinkers have some options if they want a tasty local brew — gold, silver and bronze.
State of play: Tucson's Barrio Brewing cleaned up in the Arizona Craft Beer Awards, which were announced this week, with a silver medal, two bronzes and two golds, including Brewery of the Year.
- O.H.S.O. Brewery won three golds and a silver. Their Arcadia and Gilbert breweries were among 11 first-time gold winners, along with Greenwood Brewing, an Axios Phoenix favorite.
- The winners will be celebrated Oct. 19 at the Arizona Craft Beer Awards and Festival at Centerpoint Plaza at Mill in Tempe.
Per PHOENIX magazine, which sponsors the program with the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, here are a few of this year's winners:
Brewery of the year
- Gold: Barrio Brewing
- Silver: LazyG Brewhouse
- Bronze (tie): Saddle Mountain Brewing Co. & Catalyst Crafted Ales
American pilsner/lager
- Gold: Mexican Lager, Barrio Brewing
- Silver: Cicada Season, LazyG Brewhouse
- Bronze: Sky Harbor Lager, SanTan Brewing
German Oktoberfest
- Gold: Oktoberfest, Roses by the Stairs Brewing
- Silver: Oktoberfest, PHX Beer Co.
- Bronze: Oktoberfest, Pedal Haus Brewery
American fruit/fruit wheat
- Gold: Belle Blueberry, Greenwood Brewing
- Silver: Prickly Pear Wheat, Grand Canyon Brewing
- Bronze: Papago Blueberry Wheat, Huss Brewing
Herb/spice/field
- Gold: Sudoku, O.H.S.O. Brewery (Gilbert)
- Silver: Alewife's Pumpkin Pie Marzen, Desert Monks Brewing Co.
- Bronze: Harvest Diem Spiced Ale, Greenwood Brewing
Hazy IPA
- Gold: Nelsonnnn!, Front Pourch Brewing
