The big picture: Arizona had the sixth highest rate of shooting incidents per one million people from 2014-2023, per an analysis of Gun Violence Archive data by gun violence newsroom The Trace.
The state had 2.8 reported gun incidents in cars per one million people last year, which is a bit lower than the 2022 peak of 3.26.
