More than 150 Habitat for Humanity volunteers from across Arizona spent 14 weeks this year building two homes in Supai Village, in the southwestern portion of the Grand Canyon.
The big picture: Habitat for Humanity's partnership with the Havasupai Tribe was the first of its kind and required materials to be flown in by helicopter to reach the canyon floor.
What they're saying: "It was extremely important to the tribal council that our homebuilding partner not only provide a suitable housing option but did so with respect for our culture and the privacy of our community," tribal chair Bernadine Jones said in a statement.
