Sky Harbor sees fewer complaints than most big airports, but grievances are on the rise, per data from the Transportation Security Administration.
The big picture: Air passengers nationwide are reporting complaints at a higher rate than before the pandemic, according to an analysis by the Data Liberation Project.
By the numbers: Travelers filed 11.7 complaints per 100,000 passengers at PHX in January compared to a rate of about 5 during the same month in 2019.
That was a bigger jump than the national rate, which went from 13 to nearly 17.
Zoom in: The analysis found TSA Precheck was the subject of the vast majority of Arizonans' gripes, with 1,912 complaints registered from January 2023 through January 2024.
Other complaints related to customer service (325), screening (234) and property handling (119).
Zoom out: Newark Liberty International had the nation's highest complaint rate at 36.2.
