Award-winning Japanese restaurant Uchi coming to Scottsdale in 2024

A James Beard Award-winning chef is set to bring his popular Japanese restaurant to Old Town Scottsdale next spring.

Zoom in: Uchi, which means "house" in Japanese, will offer unique flavor combinations, sushi and a seasonal omakase.

Chef Tyson Cole, who's opened six other Uchi locations across the U.S., aims to put a modern twist on Japanese food by bringing "the intimacy of the sushi bar to the entire restaurant," according to the company website.

What they're saying: "[The vibe will be] extremely fun and guest-focused—the food is always the star," Cole told Modern Luxury Scottsdale.

The Scottsdale menu will include dishes that have proven popular at other Uchi locations, like Hama Chili (yellowtail, ponzu, Thai chili and orange supreme), in addition to some new concoctions like grilled lamb sirloin with kabocha puree, pickled kabocha and a cranberry ginger relish, according to the magazine.

Driving the news: Uchi is hosting a job fair Dec. 11-15 to hire sushi chefs and front- and back-of-house employees.
