Beat the Phoenix heat: Road trip to Strawberry and Pine

It's going to be nasty-hot this weekend — temperatures are gonna top out at 113. So take a little road trip to the adorable Strawberry/Pine region. It will be hot there, too, but not miserably so.

The big picture: These two tiny towns have charming downtowns with mom-and-pop restaurants, bars and shops surrounded by cozy cabins.

Distance from Phoenix: Just over 100 miles via State Route 87.

Average July temperature: High of 88, low of 64.

💜 Visit the Pine Creek Canyon Lavender Farm.

🏫 See the oldest standing schoolhouse in the state.

🚜 Explore the Pine Strawberry Farmer's Market.

🥾 Take a hike on one of the many trails in the area.
