Sweet Handkraft continues to pull me in with viral snacks and creative drinks. The latest siren call: Japanese nama donuts.
The big picture: Sweet Handkraft is an ice cream and coffee shop with Asian flair on Severn Avenue in Metairie.
- The menu includes raspberry lychee ice cream, Japanese sandos, Spam musubi, Korean corn dogs and a long list of specialty drinks.
- This time, my family went for the fluffy Japanese donuts, available for one day only.
- Everyone else got the memo because the line wrapped through the shop.
What we ordered: Mango, crème brûlée and Earl Grey nama donuts ($6 each). They tasted like thick beignets.
- The cream filling was delicious, especially the mango.
- I also snacked on the spicy tuna onigiri ($5) while in line. Yum!
The bottom line: Between the rotating specials and packed menu, there's always something new to try at Sweet Handkraft.
