Here Today Rotisserie proves that rotisserie chickens aren't just for the grocery store.
Why it matters: The Lower Garden District restaurant is turning the weeknight staple into something far more special, and, yep, it comes with delicious sides, too.
The big picture: Coquette chef Michael Stoltzfus and his team launched Here Today in early 2025.
- The restaurant opened in the same just-off-Magazine Street space that has in recent years housed Thalia, Lengua Madre and Wild South, but current signs point to Here Today's staying power.
Its strength is in its menu's simplicity: Meals built around the beautifully cooked and seasoned rotisserie chicken, with a selection of sauces and sides to amp it all up.
- The format makes it easy to drop in for a savory solo lunch or to share a meal with friends.
Dig in: The latter is what I did recently, chatting over a dinner with my siblings one week and catching up over lunch with my Axios colleague Carlie the next.
- Besides the chicken, which I loved dunking into small bowls of cilantro ranch and dragging through the house hot sauce, standouts both times were the broccoli salad and stewed cabbage.
- The sweet potatoes, which come topped with charred pecans and cane syrup, were stellar, too.
If you go: Watch for weekly specials like the fried chicken or red beans and rice.
