Dragon slide in Storyland ain't dere no more

The fanciful dragon slide in City Park's Storyland has been "retired" and removed, a City Park spokesperson tells Axios New Orleans.
Why it matters: The slide was one of the original attractions in Storyland.
The big picture: City Park plans to install a "new magical dragon slide," spokesperson Catherine Koppel says, but no timeline was immediately available.
- For the original one, children climbed stairs built into the dragon's back and went down a red slide that looked like dragon fire.
- It was fast and we saw more than one child go flying off the end.
Zoom in: The dragon was near the new-ish Jack and the Beanstalk attraction that features an NSFW slide.
- Next door in Carousel Gardens, City Park recently removed the fun house near the swings.
Flashback: Storyland opened in the 1950s and features 18 storybook sculptures, according to the park.
- Storyland was renovated in 2019 and unveiled several new items, including a "Candyland"-type game.
