New Orleans' NSFW playground is in Storyland

Photo shows the giant from "Jack and the Beanstalk" holding a green slide in what could be construed as a suggestive pose.

Oh, Mr. Giant. Let's keep those hands where we can see them. Photo: Carlie Kollath Wells/Axios

Thank you, New Orleans City Park, for making moms groups a little spicier, as we talk about your extra-long attraction in Storyland.

Why it matters: Parenting is hard, and we have to find humor whenever we can.

The big picture: Jack's giant beanstalk has been the source of chuckles since it was erected in 2019.

  • With its suggestive corkscrew and Jack's firm grasp at the base of his, er, slide, it's inspired plenty of euphemisms on Facebook and Reddit.
  • You can't unsee it.

Catch up quick: The 23-foot-tall attraction opened in 2020 as part of Storyland's first major makeover in 35 years.

  • Children climb up one side, go across the swinging bridge and then slide down, completely oblivious to the parents snickering at the bottom.
  • FWIW: Size matters, if you're into that kind of thing. Jack's beanstalk is much bigger than his neighbor's, the dragon.

We reached out to City Park to see if the beanstalk was an intentional Easter egg for adults.

  • No word as of publication time, but that's OK. We still think it is funny and fits right in with the city's naughty sense of humor.

If you go: Storyland is open weekly in City Park with $6 admission.

  • Tickets to Carousel Gardens also include Storyland. Pro tip: Carousel Gardens has discounted chaperone tickets if you are with a minor.

💭 Carlie's thought bubble: My mom is going to tell me to get my mind out of the gutter when she reads this.

🌶️ Special shoutout to Axios Richmond's Karri Peifer for her help with spicy innuendos.
