Chef Melissa Araujo has turned the lovely Alma Cafe into a must-stop spot for breakfast and brunch in New Orleans.
Why it matters: You shouldn't skip it for lunch, either.
Catch up quick: Araujo, who's a two-time James Beard Award semifinalist, opened Alma Cafe in the Bywater in the fall of 2020.
- She added a second location in Mid-City just about two months ago, doubling your chances to get a bite of her Honduran cooking.
Dig in: For a recent lunch, I stopped in to grab some chorizo pupusas.
- The stuffed flatbread with its warm, tomato-y salsa roja was hearty and filling, but a great pickled slaw and grilled onions brightened it up.
