New Gulf Coast cruise sets sail March 1

American Cruise Lines is adding a new Gulf Coast cruise to its lineup for next year, the company announced.

Why it matters: You can board a ship in New Orleans and hop along the coast all the way to Pensacola.

How it works: The new trip itinerary starts in New Orleans and makes stops at Ship Island, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula, Mississippi, then Mobile, Alabama, and ends in Pensacola, Florida.

There's a reverse version too, which starts in Florida and ends in New Orleans.
It's an eight-day cruise going in either direction.

Between the lines: The trip is kind of like a marine version of the renewed Gulf Coast train route that's due to start again this summer, so it'll soon be time to have fun with your regional travel.
