A cool new spot great for families and sunset hangs has opened in the riverbend.
Why it matters: It's only open on weekends through Memorial Day.
The big picture: The Uptown riverfront has long been a favorite place to gather, with soccer games and family reunions sprawled across the Fly.
- But this elevates that experience, like if your n'er-do-well collegiate hangs of years past grew up and developed a taste for tinned fish.

The Batture comes from local developers Ben Jacobson and Casey Burka, according to the event space's website.
- The setup turns the former Bisso Marine site between Walnut and Lowerline streets into a proper park-like area.
- Food trucks the Nell Shell and Bootsy's (from the Blue Oak BBQ team) anchor a grassy expanse filled with park benches, Adirondack chairs, a tire swing and lawn games.
- Expect other pop-ups, too, like workout classes. See Instagram for the latest.

Dig in: I visited last Saturday afternoon, and it was a sweet place to crack open a bottle of wine with friends while my toddler burned off some energy.
- The fantastic shrimp roll from The Nell Shell didn't hurt either.
If you go: Drinkers take note: There's no bar, so BYOB.
- There's some shade, but it's at a premium, so don't forget the sunscreen.
- There's easy access to the Mississippi River, so dogs should be leashed, and kids should be closely watched.
