Chef Nina Compton is celebrating the release of her new cookbook with a meal inspired by its recipes.
Why it matters: You're invited. Tickets are on sale now for the book launch dinner.
Zoom in: Compton is due to release "Kwéyòl / Creole: Recipes Stories and Tings from a St. Lucian's Chef Journey" on April 1.
That night, she hosts a four-course dinner at Compére Lapin, her CBD restaurant that's currently long-listed for a James Beard Award for hospitality. (She's also a 2018 winner for Best Chef: South.)
The book traces Compton's path from her native St. Lucia to Jamaica, Miami and, eventually, New Orleans.
Dig in: The meal is $75 and includes dishes like jerk chicken with rice and peas and coconut collard greens, cow heel soup and crawfish hushpuppies.
There's a vegetarian option, too.
If you go: Signed copies of the book will be available for $37.50 at the event. Reserve a table.
