Thanksgiving is nearly here, and if you plan to outsource part or all of your cooking, now's the time to get your orders in with New Orleans restaurants.
Why it matters: The holidays are hard! We give you permission to take any shortcut you want.
Zoom in: Dozens of New Orleans-area restaurants offer reservations for Thanksgiving every year, many of them with fixed price, themed menus.
- But many of the popular options fill up quickly, so make your plans as soon as possible.
Thanksgiving dine-in reservations
Dining in: Here are a few options that still had Thanksgiving Day reservations open as of Nov. 14.
- Miss River: Chef Alon Shaya's restaurant at the bottom of the Four Seasons Hotel is leaning on its whole buttermilk fried chicken from its regular menu, but adding Thanksgiving sides. (Menu and reservations)
- Chemin a la Mer: Just upstairs from Miss River, chef Donald Link is hosting Thanksgiving, too. (Menu and reservations)
- San Lorenzo: The holiday menu includes an Italian Thanksgiving buffet with cider-brined turkey breast and confit legs, prosciutto gravy and cacio e pepe macaroni and cheese. The meal ends with candied pecan cannoli and pumpkin cream tiramisu. (Reservations)
- Commons Club: The three-course menu from chef Chris Borges includes turkey with cornbread, chestnut, chicken and andouille dressing, green beans, giblet vermouth gravy and cranberry relish. (Reservations)
- Dooky Chase's Restaurant: The Treme classic still had some lunch reservations available this week for Thanksgiving Day. (Reservations)
Thanksgiving takeout
Take it to go: Here are some options for whether you've got dinner covered but want extra help with desserts, or you want to take the whole meal to go.
- Ayu Bakehouse: Have the experts make your pumpkin pie, or opt for the apple crumble. The bakery can prep your breads and give you shortcuts for stuffing, too. (Pre-order)
- Popeyes: There's nothing easier for turkey than snapping up one from Popeyes and sticking it in the oven. I love this one for Friendsgiving events, too. (Details)
- Bodega: This Uptown spot has pre-made traditional sides like shrimp and mirliton dressing, and a take-and-bake turkey. (Menu)
- Copeland's: The south Louisiana chain has all the fixings, and locations in New Orleans, Harvey, Slidell, Kenner, Covington and more. (Details)
- The Country Club: The Bywater restaurant still has reservations available for dining in, but you can also opt to get your meal boxed up and ready to present as though it came from your own kitchen. (Details)
The bottom line: It's your holiday, and you should work only as much as you want to.
