10 pumpkin patches in and around New Orleans

New Orleans has several pumpkin patches within easy driving distance.

The big picture: Most of the church pumpkin patches have free admission and photos ops.

You'll need to drive about an hour if you want to do fall activities like hayrides and corn mazes.

The fine print: Bring cash and cards to the pumpkin patches because payment options vary.

Easy trip

First Presbyterian in Uptown. The pumpkins this year were grown on Navajo land in New Mexico.
St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on South Carrollton Avenue.
St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Metairie. It is hosting Pumpkin-Palooza on Oct. 19 with games, face-painting, food and a cake walk.
St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Harvey. Nonperishable food donations are encouraged. It's hosting a car show on Oct. 20 and a fall festival on Oct. 26.
St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Old Metairie. Free family photos are available Oct. 18 and Oct. 20 with a food or cash donation.
St. Paul's Episcopal School in Lakeview.
Woodland Church in Algiers.

Mrs. Heather's Farm: This farm outside Hammond is popular for field trips and gets very busy on weekends. It has a corn maze, pumpkins, playground, corn bin and more. Cash only. Bring a picnic.
LSU AgCenter corn maze: This attraction in Burden has a corn maze, sunflower field, hayride, corn bin, petting farm and more. Buy tickets in advance.

Williams Family Farms: This farm in south Mississippi grows its own pumpkins and has a corn maze, hayride, u-pick sunflower field and playground. The annual Pumpkin Pie Fest is Oct. 19.
