August marked the opening of pricy Nobu in New Orleans and the end of Blue Dot Donuts.
The big picture: Here are several of the restaurants that opened and closed in New Orleans metro last month.
Opened
🍣 Nobu opened at Caesars and is now the priciest restaurant in the city. (Our first look)
🍸 Barcar opened in the former Parish Line Bistro location in Old Metairie. (Menu)
🍝 Venezia opened a Gretna location in the former Tony Mandina's location. (Facebook)
🍟 Mo Fries, a food truck focused on loaded fries, opened a brick-and-mortar location in Terrytown. (Instagram)
🐓 Southerns, a fried chicken food truck, opened in the former Gogi Korean building in Metairie. (Instagram)
🥐 Eats, a bakery and Italian cafe, opened on Maple Street, the owner tells Axios. He previously ran Manhattanjack.
🍔 Savvy Sliders opened in Old Metairie. It's co-branding with Fat Boy's Pizza at 2565 Metairie Road.
- The company plans open in other Fat Boy's Pizza locations in Harvey, Mandeville and Covington in the next six months, according to a press release.
🍦 Sum'n Sweet, a dessert shop, opened in the former Neutral Ground Coffee House. (Instagram)

Closed
🍩 Blue Dot Donuts closed in Mid-City after 13 years. The owner says a new bakery and coffee shop will open in the building after renovations. (Facebook)
🍦 Laozi Ice Cream, which was on Blue Dot's back porch, is temporary closed while it looks for a new space. (Instagram)
🍺 Gordon Biersch closed its brewery and restaurant on Poydras Street, a Caesars New Orleans rep confirmed to Axios. Plans aren't finalized for what will replace it.
🍨 Rahm Haus closed its ice cream pop-up Monday (not technically August but part of the long holiday weekend). (Instagram)
🌮 Rosalita's closed its taco shop on St. Claude Avenue. (Eater)
🍝 Lakeview Harbor closed its Oak Street location, a company rep tells Axios.
🦞 Joel's Lobster Rolls closed its food truck. (Instagram)
🍴 Frostop on Clearview Parkway in Metairie closed after 16 years. (Facebook)
🍔 Junction closed its St. Claude Avenue burger shop. (Instagram)
🦞 Parish Line Bistro, which Saints general manager Mickey Loomis co-opened in 2022, closed and was replaced by Barcar, according to a press release.
Growing
🥐 Levee Baking Co. is expanding on Magazine Street and will offer breakfast, lunch and baking workshops. (Instagram)
