Old Metairie's only rooftop bar is closing and becoming a new restaurant later this month.
Why it matters: It's one of several restaurants that have opened or closed in metro New Orleans in recent weeks.
The big picture: Parish Line Bistro, which Saints general manager Mickey Loomis co-opened in 2022, is closing to make room for Barcar, according to a press release.
- Barcar is a nod to the building's history as a train depot near the Metairie Road railroad, owners Hufft Marchand Hospitality say.
- Hufft Marchand also owns Juniors on Harrison in Lakeview.
- Barcar is expected to open in mid-August. Hours will be Wednesday through Sunday, 11am to midnight.
What's new: The rooftop space will be revamped with a new layout and decor, the company said. The TVs will stay.
- The menu will focus on burgers, raw oysters and lunch and dinner specials. Drinks include espresso martini shots and cocktails.
Here are other restaurants that have opened or closed recently or are coming soon.
