If you've looked toward the Mississippi River in New Orleans anytime recently, you've probably noticed that the Crescent City Connection is glittering like a bedazzled Christmas tree.
Why it matters: It's all part of the new lighting project that contractors are rushing to finish ahead of the Super Bowl.
The intrigue: What you're seeing now are test runs ahead of the project's expected completion early next year.
- The new lights will be programmable, dimmable and multicolored.
- Recent skylines have glowed purple, yellow and red, white and blue.
What's next: DOTD expects lane closures to wrap up this week, loosening traffic restrictions that have snarled commutes for months.
