How OPI's Cajun Shrimp nail polish got its name

A trip to New Orleans inspired the name of OPI's Cajun Shrimp, according to a new TikTok posted by the nail polish company.

Why it matters: The orangey-red color is one of the most iconic, name-recognizable shades in cosmetic history.

Zoom in: OPI co-founder Suzi Weiss-Fischmann says the shade dates back to 1990.

In the TikTok video, Weiss-Fischmann says she was in New Orleans for a trade show when she had a jumbo shrimp dish during dinner one night.
The shrimp were seasoned with Cajun spices, and it was Weiss-Fischmann's first time encountering the flavors.
"It was the most amazing taste, and we named the color for it," she says.
