April Fools' pranksters are out to get you. Here are some of the silly ones we've seen in New Orleans metro.
Why it matters: Life is hard, and it's good to pause for a laugh.
Innovative product: A Smalls Sliders collaboration with Café du Monde had people fooled on Facebook.
- The franchise, which is owned by Drew Brees, said it would make cheeseburgers with beignet buns.
Otterly adorable: An underwater-search otter at St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office got us with the cute photos.
- STPSO said Deputy Ollie was trained on firearm detection.
- Special shoutout for the planning here because these are photos of a real otter with the STPSO dive team.
Beer and beans: Port Orleans Brewing Co. and Blue Runner teamed up for a beer "only New Orleans could love."
- Blue Stunner is a red beans and rice lager that's served in a pint glass with a spoon.
Borrow a cat: The Jefferson Parish Library tried to fool us by saying it was creating a Library of Cats to complement the popular Library of Things.
- People seemed genuinely disappointed on Facebook when they realized they wouldn't be able to borrow a cat from the "cat-alog."
New tool for firefighting: St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District #2 joked they were launching the "Moped Fire Brigade" to combat traffic congestion.
- "Say hello to the swift, nimble, and dare we say stylish, moped squad," the prank read.
AI is coming for us: Abandoned New Orleans, a popular Facebook group, said it finally found the location of the proposed Disney World in Louisiana.
- An AI-generated photo shows a sign for Disney's abandoned bayou orleans attraction with a riverboat in the background.
Kenner, brah: Breaux Mart, the grocery story with the sassy social media, says it is finally opening a Kenner location, and it has the perfect name: Brah Mart.
- The business has run the same April Fools' joke the last six years. But, hey, it's a good one.
