"Hands Off!," a nationwide movement protesting President Trump on Saturday, is expected to be the largest single-day protest since he entered office.

Why it matters: Protesters across the country are rallying against several Trump administration policies, including its handling of Social Security benefits, federal workforce layoffs, attacks on consumer protections and the rolling back of protections for immigrants and transgender people.

The protests are also against Elon Musk's involvement in the federal government via DOGE — after he's already faced a wave of demonstrations at Tesla dealerships worldwide via the #TeslaTakedown movement.

By the numbers: More than 1,100 rallies, visibility events and meetings were scheduled in all 50 states as of Wednesday afternoon.

Zoom in: There are several rallies being held across South Florida, from West Palm Beach to Key West.

A rally is scheduled for the Torch of Friendship in downtown Miami. Various civil rights groups and the Miami-Dade Democratic Party are expected to attend.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, local Democrats and advocacy groups are organizing a prayer vigil just three miles from Trump's Doral golf resort to call for an extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelan and other immigrant groups in Miami.

What they're saying: Adelys Ferro, executive director of the Venezuelan American Caucus, tells Axios that "immigrants are "assets, we are not a problem."

The vigil is about "protecting not only Venezuelans, but Haitians, Cubans and [anyone] with TPS," Ferro said. It's about "giving a demonstration of Latinos united in front of all of these outrageous decisions by the administration."

Miami International Airport is expecting about 157,000 travelers per day from Thursday to Tuesday — matching last year's "record-breaking holiday weekend." 

The big picture: Nationally, Labor Day weekend travel is expected to surpass last year's record, and the Transportation Security Administration is preparing to screen hundreds of thousands more passengers.

Plus, domestic flight, hotel and car rental costs have dropped compared to the holiday weekend last year.

By the numbers: The TSA said it expects to screen nearly 17.4 million people between Thursday and Sept. 3.

With 2.91 million passengers, Friday is projected to be the busiest travel day over Labor Day weekend.

Flashback: The TSA told Axios it screened 17.1 million people during the same time period last year, with a peak of 2.91 million on the busiest day.

Between the lines: Labor Day weekend will be the first holiday weekend since TSA lifted the shoe removal policy during security checks in July.

The new rule, though, does not apply to passengers without a REAL ID.

If you go: MIA issued a series of recommendations to make travel day easier, including pre-paying for parking, as lots may reach capacity, and checking in ahead of time.

Data: Good Trouble Lives On; Map: Axios Visuals

Tens of thousands of people are expected to protest the Trump administration again on Thursday, the fifth anniversary of the death of civil rights leader and former congressman John Lewis.

Why it matters: Lewis was one of the most vocal critics of President Trump during his first administration. Trump's 2017 inauguration was the first that Lewis missed during his three-decade tenure in Congress. 

By the numbers: 56,000 people RSVP'd for more than 1,500 events across the country as of Friday, organizers said. 

Zoom in:  In Miami, one rally will be at The Roots Bookstore & Market from 4pm-8:30pm, while the second is planned for 5pm-7pm at Florida International University Green Library.

A third rally in Davie will be from 4:30pm-6pm at the entrance to Nova Southeastern University.

 What they're saying: "Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of action to respond to the attacks on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration," the protest website said.

"Together, we'll remind them that in America, the power lies with the people."

The other side: "Nearly 80 million Americans gave President Trump a historic mandate to Make America Great Again and he is delivering on that promise in record time," White House spokesperson Liz Huston said in a statement.

Context: Lewis, the son of sharecroppers, grew up in rural Alabama. The civil rights leader was arrested more than 40 times and injured repeatedly but remained an advocate for nonviolent protest, per the Library of Congress.

"Rosa Parks inspired us to get in trouble," he said in 2019. "And I've been getting in trouble ever since. She inspired us to find a way, to get in the way, to get in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble."

State of play: Anti-Trump protests since January have retained their momentum, including Tesla Takedown in March, Hands Off! and 50501 in April, May Day, No Kings in June, and Free America on Independence Day.

Indivisible, a leading protest organization group, launched a project ahead of the protest to train a million people in non-cooperation, community organizing and campaign design.

"No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance," organizers wrote. "From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we're taking action to reject authoritarianism."

Zoom in: There are three protests planned for the greater Miami area: The Torch of Friendship in downtown Miami (11am-2pm), Pride Park in Miami Beach (11am-1pm) and North Young Circle in Hollywood (9am-3pm). 

Zoom out: Millions of people are estimated to protest in more than 1,500 cities across all 50 states and commonwealths, organizers said.

Context: Trump proposed a military parade on his 79th birthday and the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary.

The Army predicts it will spend between $25 million and $45 million on the plan, an estimate that doesn't include the costs of the Secret Service or law enforcement.

D.C. is not known for having military parades, but Trump has been vying for one since his first term.

Yes, but: No, Kings are not scheduled to have an organized protest in Washington, D.C.

"We want to create contrast, not conflict," said Leah Greenberg, co-executive director of Indivisible, one of the partner groups.

"The choice to hold No Kings events in every city but D.C. is a deliberate choice to keep the focus on contrast, and not give the Trump administration an opportunity to stoke and then put the focus on conflict."

Protesters are expected to hit the streets in Miami and the surrounding areas Saturday for the No Kings protests. 

Why it matters: The latest round of protests comes amid growing frustration about the ongoing government shutdown and widespread opposition to President Trump's military crackdown on Democratic-led cities across America.

Organizers expect millions to gather across the nation on Saturday, Oct. 18 in an event Republican lawmakers decry as "a hate America rally."

State of play: More than 2,500 events are planned across all 50 states as of Monday, organizers said.

"Together, millions will send a clear and unmistakable message: we are a nation of equals, and our country will not be ruled by fear or force," their statement said.
