Axios Miami reporters reflect on 2024

Martin: Interviewing will.i.am — while he drove me around in a musical Mercedes — was definitely something I never expected to do. But my favorite interviews of the year weren't with celebrities.

• I loved speaking to Argentine and Colombian immigrants ahead of the Copa America final and returning to my stomping grounds at Miami Beach City Hall with stories on spring break, the historic Deauville hotel and homelessness.

Sommer: It's no secret I'm a big Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler fan (peep the excitement!), so getting to ask him a question at the BigFace Coffee opening was a MOMENT. But when it comes to stories I'm most proud of, it was:

• Leaning into my education reporting background 
• Focusing on issues that impact South Florida's Latino community and help explain Miami's unique culture
• And highlighting local artists' work, like Josh Aronson's exhibit during Art Basel.
