With a statewide THC ban shelved for another legislative session, let's take a look at one more buzzy cannabis seltzer brewed here in Central Indiana.
The big picture: If legislation introduced by U.S. Rep. Jim Baird (R-Ind.) to delay it by two years is unsuccessful, looming federal restrictions could remove intoxicating hemp products like these from store shelves — and dismantle our state's growing hemp industry — by November.
Zoom in: 3CHI, one of Indiana's most prominent producers and the first hemp-based brand to land a pro sports sponsorship, added this flavor to its lineup in January alongside Juicy Orange.
- Pronounced "three-chee," the company was founded by biochemist Justin Journay in the Cleveland area in 2018 and moved to Indiana in 2019.
- 3CHI now operates primarily out of sites in Indianapolis, Carmel and Fishers.
Brew of the week: 3CHI Peach Tea Lemonade
- 25mg of hemp-derived Delta-9 THC per 12oz can.
- Zero sugar and 10 calories.
My take: At 25mg, this is the most potent Delta-9 seltzer I've tried.
- The THC flavor cuts through more prominently than the 10mg varieties I've sampled from Sun King and Floral.
- Being sugar-free also introduces a dash of artificial sweetness found when cracking open a can of Diet Coke.
Yes, but: If impact is a bigger priority than flavor, you're in for a relaxing ride. And maybe an unplanned afternoon nap.
- Its fast-acting effects kicked in for me in about 15-20 minutes. So plan accordingly, and drink responsibly.
If you buy: $5.99 for a can, $19.99 for a four-pack.
