Weather-smart costumes for Central Indiana

Why it matters: In the Hoosier state, Halloween can often be a meteorological crapshoot, which makes it tough to plan a costume for yourself or your kids.

• Partly sunny conditions should keep the chills at bay, at least for the first half of trick-or-treating.

What to try: Pick a costume that can be dressed up or down — in layers.

• "Ninja" was always a childhood favorite of Justin's. Comfortable, adjustable and can offer a built-in face covering when temperatures drop.
• The wildly popular "KPop Demon Hunters" costumes provide plenty of jacketed looks. Pair with tights or leggings and you should be good to go. Or, draw Rumi's patterns on a plain long-sleeve to pop under the rest of her costume.
• Another popular option this year, the Labubu, is easy and comfy. Sweatsuit, DIY mask and bunny ears.

Also consider inflatable costumes that draw in air with a fan to stay filled up.

• Kids (or adults) can wear pretty much whatever they want inside.
