Indiana gas prices are dropping sharply just in time for the busy holiday travel.
Why it matters: The average price per gallon in the Indianapolis metro area was $2.97 to start this month, falling under $3 for the first time since January, per data from tracking app GasBuddy.
- That's down about 9 cents from the same time in 2023.
Zoom out: Indy's gas prices are still lower than the national average of $3.06, but the gap has narrowed over the past year.
- The national average was $3.23 per gallon in November 2023.
Zoom in: Some gas stations around Indianapolis went as low as $2.59 per gallon as of Monday.
