Devour Indy is still in full swing, and so am I after digging into a three-course meal at one of the city's best restaurants.
Where I went: Bluebeard, the Fletcher Place gem with a focus on artisanal dishes made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
What I ordered: I ordered off the Devour menu, but the starter and entree are part of their regular menu, too.
- The sweet corn gazpacho was silky and flavorful, with a surprising kick.
- For the entree, there were two meat-free options and I went with the casarecce pasta, with its cherry tomato sauce, grilled corn, pink peppercorn and basil.
- Dining with a friend was ideal because we were able to try both desserts. If you like chocolate, the lava cake was to die for.
💠My thought bubble: I've largely tried to avoid pasta dishes in this space, because it seems too obvious as a meat-free option.
- Yes, but: This one was special. The thick, rustic tubes of pasta were hearty and perfectly cooked, gilded by the light, bright sauce and subtle crunch of the fine breadcrumb topping.
The vibe: Upscale, eclectic and cozy.
- Bluebeard doesn't take reservations, so I was worried about the wait.
- Even though it was busy, the wait for a table for two around 6pm on a Thursday night was only 15 minutes and we were invited to grab a drink at the bar while we waited.
Cost: $55 for the three-course meal.
- An optional wine pairing is an extra $12 and a fun addition.
If you go: 653 Virginia Ave.
- Devour runs through Sunday and is available at Bluebeard 5-10pm Sunday through Thursday and 5-11pm Friday and Saturday.
